Lotus Mahal
The Lotus Mahal is a two-story building that was used as a leisure palace for the women of the royal court. It is named for its distinctive shape, which resembles a lotus flower. The palace is decorated with intricate carvings and frescoes, and has an open courtyard in the center. The palace is believed to have been built in the 16th century, during the reign of the Vijayanagara king Krishnadevaraya.
In addition to its architectural and historical significance, the Lotus Mahal is also considered an important example of architectural styles, as it incorporates elements that are not seen in other monuments at Hampi. It is a popular tourist attraction in Hampi, and is well-known for its beauty and ornate design.
It is part of the ticketed sections and the ticket purchased from ASI ticket counter should grant you access to Lotus Mahal and Elephant Stables in this part. The same ticket is also valid for same day in other parts of Hampi that require an entry ticket – Vijaya Vitthala Temple for instance.
